§ PRIVACY POLICY

Privacy Policy

Duty collects only what is required to run the calculator, remember your saved SKUs (if you sign in), and understand aggregate site usage. This page describes what is collected, why, and how to opt out.

What we collect

Anonymous session cookies (set by Duty) so the calculator can remember your in-progress query within a browsing session. These cookies do not contain personally identifying information.

If you sign in via Clerk: your email address, name (if provided), and a Clerk session token. We use Clerk to authenticate users and to associate saved SKUs with your account.

Saved SKUs (if you sign in): the HTS code, country of origin, and any notes you choose to store. Saved SKUs are scoped to your account and are not shared with other users or third parties.

Aggregate analytics via Google Analytics 4 (GA4): page views, referrer, approximate location at the country level, browser type, and device class. GA4 is configured to anonymize IP addresses.

Server logs at the Cloudflare edge: IP address, request path, response code, and timestamp, retained for at most 30 days for abuse prevention and debugging.

What we do not collect

We do not collect payment information — Duty is free.

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing.

We do not store the content of your tariff queries beyond the current session, except for SKUs you explicitly save.

Third-party services

Cloudflare (hosting, edge cache, DDoS protection): processes all requests. See Cloudflare Privacy Policy.

Clerk (authentication): processes sign-in flows and stores account data. See Clerk Privacy Policy.

Google Analytics (aggregate usage): see Google Privacy Policy. To opt out, install the GA opt-out browser add-on.

Google Fonts (typography): served from Google CDN. Your browser may share IP and User-Agent with Google when fetching font files.

Your rights

You can request deletion of your saved SKUs and account data at any time by emailing team@duty.tax. We will action the request within 14 days.

You can clear session cookies at any time via your browser settings. This will reset your in-progress query but will not delete your account.

EU/UK residents: you have the rights granted under the GDPR / UK GDPR including access, rectification, erasure, and data portability. Contact us using the email above to exercise these rights.

Changes to this policy

Material changes to this policy will be reflected in the "Last updated" date below. For substantive changes that affect how we handle existing data, we will post a notice on the home page for at least 14 days.
